“Lady Liberty is my most popular image. I’ve shipped her to almost every state in the U.S. and to countries all over the world . This powerful symbol of the United States has always represented a progressive intellectual worldview. Lady Liberty has been a feminist long before women had the right to vote. The poem inscribed on her very body has preached the benefits of inclusivity and acceptance even when many of our citizens struggle to get on board.

This leading lady is the first painting I created after moving to New York in the summer of 2000, which is where I’d always wanted to live. This is a victory painting.
